Please take a few moments to see what readers are saying about the
Books to Remember Series.

"These are lovely books with gentle stories that have been carefully worded
so that young readers can enjoy them on their own."

About Frank
the Fish Gets His Wish:

"I have a Montessori pre -school - children between the ages of 2 1/2
and seven. First, I read the story to the entire class, which delighted
all of them. The story has to be good in order to keep everyone's attention.
Then, I put the book on display in our little library. Some little ones
go over to the story and enjoy telling it in their own words, some older
children can read it already and take turns taking it home to read to
their family, and the others are practicing with the [Learning Cards],
eager to read the book for themselves."

"Thank you so much for sending me a copy of your beautifully designed
book, Frank the Fish Gets His Wish. This book, decodable by any
child who knows the short vowel patterns and a handful of common sight
words, fills a gap in the trade book offerings available to parents. Many
books that appeal to children have beautiful illustrations and a good
story line but are too hard for independent reading by a novice. This
book is appealing and readable because the words follow basic phonetic
patterns that are typically taught in a beginning reading program. The
vocabulary is controlled but not at the expense of interest. Furthermore,
the word study cards provided with the book allow the child to practice
basic reading skills. You have created a commendable product: a book that
is attractive, interesting, meaningful-- and decodable. I look forward
to seeing other books in the series and encourage you to keep them coming."

About The
Sunset Pond:

"This book is a valuable addition to a structured phonics program, such
as Orton-Gillingham."

Deborah Crim

"We love The Sunset Pond. Our son had just reached the point of
being able to read it when it arrived. He said it was the first 'real'
book he had ever read. I agree with him completely. It is so much more
interesting and beautiful than the typical readers for children. Thank
you!"

Mary Anne Creto
Mother/ Primary Schoolteacher

"Bravo! Any child who has the opportunity to 'share the experience' of
The Sunset Pond will fall in love with reading. The simplicity
of the story line enhances the beauty of the illustrations and allows
the reader to let the imagination soar. The big bull frog was my friend
the minute I laid eyes on him. The Sunset Pond is a book that will
be read over and over again.
Talent like yours is desperately needed in the field of children's literature.
Too much of the reading material children have today is stilted, unimaginative
and inane. You have the gift of making stories come alive, and through
your stories children will be uplifted in spirit and mind.
Jen's Best Gift Ever and Meg and Jim's Sled Trip continue
the journey into the world of reading, the best gift we could ever give
a child. I commend you for creating these wonderful books. Every home
should have dog eared copies of all of them.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review these books. I wish
you every possible success.

About The
Books to Remember Learning Cards:

"My six year old daughter was most interested in the picture/word cards.
I was surprised because although she is developing some reading skills,
she doesn't like to exert herself too much to figure out words, yet she
enjoyed the matching game we played with them. She also liked the books...
they are lovely."

Claude Goldenberg
Associate Professor of Education
California State University, Long Beach
member of the Committee on the Prevention of Reading Difficulties in Young
Children, National Research Council

"The cards were a great hit - the children were fascinated with the connection
between the pictures on the cards and the book."
